Pediatric Surgical And Outpatient Services
Here at Northwest Medical Center, we are committed to ensuring that your child has the best possible surgical experience. Even minor outpatient procedures can be frightening to a child. We minimize that fear by allowing parents to be with their child at all times before and after surgery.
We encourage you to participate in our pre-operative orientation tours so that you and your child will be more familiar with us and more comfortable with the hospital environment. You will have the opportunity to have your questions answered while allowing you child to participate in "hands on" activities to familiarize himself or herself with equipment and surroundings prior to the day of surgery. This helps to reduce fear of the unknown for you and your child. We will also show a videotape explaining the surgical process in simple terms, and we'll even give your child a gift to take home!
Rehabilitation
Outpatient rehabilitation services for speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy are available for children from birth through adolescence. We also offer an Early Intervention Program, which is an outpatient clinic providing services to infants and toddlers and their families.
Therapeutic assessment and intervention are available in the areas of physical therapy, speech-language and feeding therapy, as well as occupational therapy. These services are available to children requiring continued services after discharge from our NICU, PICU, or pediatric unit as well as to children in our community.
